Code of Conduct
All members are expected to follow this Code of Conduct at every meeting and club event.
1. Respect everyone
Treat all members, guests, and staff with kindness and courtesy. Discrimination, harassment, or hate speech based on race, gender, age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic will not be tolerated. Respect differing skill levels, play styles, and preferences.
2. Play fair
Cheating, exploiting, or unsportsmanlike behavior is not allowed in any form. Honor the rules of each game and the spirit of friendly competition. Be a gracious winner and a respectful loser.
3. Create a welcoming space
Encourage new members and help them feel included. Avoid gatekeeping or elitist attitudes. Use inclusive language and avoid offensive jokes or slurs.
4. Keep it clean
Clean up after yourself during and after meetings. Treat club property and venues with care and respect.
5. Be mindful of time and space
Make an effort to be punctual to meetings and events. Share game time fairly and rotate players when needed. Respect quiet zones or designated areas for different types of games.
6. Resolve conflicts constructively
If a disagreement arises, handle it calmly and respectfully. If needed, seek help from a club officer to mediate or resolve the issue. Repeated disruptive behavior may result in disciplinary action, which may include removal from the club.
7. Follow the rules
Abide by this Code of Conduct, Starport's Code of Conduct, and the club's Constitution. Follow all NASA JSC and Starport policies, including safety and conduct guidelines. Report violations to a club officer or designated contact confidentially.
JSC GAMERS is built on shared enthusiasm, mutual respect, and a love for games. Let's work together to make every gathering a positive, inclusive, and memorable experience.
Constitution: what members should know
The full Constitution covers club governance in detail — here are the points that matter most day to day. For everything else, see the full document below.
- Who can join: NASA JSC civil servants, contractors, retirees, and the surrounding community (18+ only). At least half of total membership must be NASA JSC–affiliated.
- Active vs. inactive: You're an "active" member once you've paid annual dues and attended a meeting within the past three months. Active status is what lets you vote in club elections and decisions — inactive members don't count toward that. (Dues are currently set to $0, so this just means showing up.)
- Dues: Set annually by the officers and due within one month of the year's first meeting to keep active status. Dues are currently set to $0 — it's free to join and participate.
- Meetings: Held at least once a month; special meetings can also be called by the President or a majority of officers.
- Officers: Elected annually by active members (elections held by December 1st, terms start January 1st).
- Conduct matters: This Code of Conduct applies at all meetings. Violations can lead to disciplinary action, including removal from the club, following a defined process with room for appeal.
